Educational activities

The Fiocruz Museum of Life relies on the support of specific sectors to develop educational activities for its public, such as the Education Service and the Itinerant Service. Educational initiatives are present in all aspects of the Fiocruz Museum of Life’s work and can take various forms, such as games, tours, theatrical performances, storytelling sessions, and more.

Here, audiences are active subjects in the construction of knowledge. We value people’s engagement, their existing knowledge and what they bring to the table. We seek to instigate people’s curiosity, encouraging them to ask questions and reflect on aspects regarding science and health.  We prioritize public emancipation, autonomy and empowerment, favoring collective work while also valuing each person’s identity.

The educational initiatives held at the Fiocruz Museum of Life aim to help people realize they are not isolated and help them see themselves as historical and social subjects. One of things that make us stand out, throughout our history, is that we conceive educational activities for different audiences, expanding the range our target audiences, rather than focusing solely on university students.

Among the values that guide the Educational Policy of the Fiocruz Museum of Life, ethics, accessibility, democracy, social participation, the articulation between theory and practice, commitment to students’ cultural experiences, critical reflection, and evaluation as a constant part of the process stand out. In many ways, the educational activities promoted by the Fiocruz Museum of Life have served as a benchmark for science museums in Brazil.
